A Wedding Videographer’s Day at The Station House, Meath.

This year I was honoured to film an incredible wedding for a wedding client at The Station House Hotel in Kilmessan, Co Meath. It' was a day full of genuine love as per with Eye Flower Films dare I say! This article is for those of you looking for insight on what it’s like to have your wedding there, a wedding videographers perspective so to speak:

To put it simply, the place is like walking into a fairy-tale. I don’t know how but it feels like a whimsical novel materialised. This I completely loved.

The day began upstairs at Bridal prep with all the bridesmaids getting ready. The space as a whole had such lovely light & it was just a blessing that everyone was super genuine & just themselves with cameras around. The boys got ready over the other side of the venue, to negate any surprises between the bride & groom! The guys prep space, the converted old station house, was a tad close for comfort, but we made do with the cameras by documenting a lot of the prep just outside the front door. It' was a lovely day for it & putting on bowties & checking cufflinks was quite cool to do in hindsight in the natural light.

The main selling point, for me as a wedding videographer though, was the sunken pit ceremony area. I’ve never filmed in such a special place before. I was enlightened to be told that this space was where the old trains would be moved onto different tracks before chugging onward, which I just thought was such a cool touch. Between the twinkly lights & the tall tree’s, it just felt exactly right - without needing to say a word. One small thing to consider is the crows, they are incredibly loud & wanted to join the ceremony at every moment. Thankfully though with good professional audio equipment & setup this can be eliminated.

Although the weather was playing games with us, we did manage to get the couple to capture some of their connection amongst the trees, away from some of the excited guest party. It was all too lovely haha.

The dinner, speeches & evening party all took place in a separate perfectly decored building as the evening progressed (including the rain! haha). We we’re safe & dry inside to dance & film the night away in a perfect space for celebrating a wedding here though. It was an effortless filming day all round.
